Meet the Tiki Tour Adventure Racing World Champs team
Tom Lucas’ team Tiki Tour are one of New Zealand's most successful teams in adventure racing, especially at the local Godzone race. Godzone has been the world's largest expedition race and is widely regarded as the best. Unfortunately, it has been cancelled for 2024 and its future is unknown. Tiki Tour was first at Godzone in 2017, 2nd in 2020 and scored 3rd place finishes in 2016, 2019, 2021 and 2023. To achieve six podium finishes in the 11 races to date is an extraordinary feat. Their pedigree puts them in a great position to achieve their goal of winning the 2023 Adventure Racing World Championships in South Africa. As a team Tiki Tour have also raced in World Champs (USA and Australia), Eco Challenge (Fiji) and X-Trail (China).
Find out more about Tiki Tour on their Facebook page.
Tom Lucas is being joined in the Tiki Tour team by Eryn Cutler, Ali Wilson, and Chris Forne.
Eryn Cutler is an experienced adventure racer with many podiums to his credit. He’s competed in adventure racing, rogaining, and multi-sport as well as cross country and downhill mountain biking. Eryn achieved his best Godzone result with Tiki Tour in 2023.
Ali Wilson joined Tiki in 2023 - converting to adventure racing from Ironman. Recently she placed 1st female in the WUU2k 65km Ultra Run, the Mt Difficulty Ascent (while setting the course record) and was the overall winner of the A100-3-day Ultra Run. Ali has placed 2nd and 3rd in the 1-day Coast to Coast Elite Female category, had two A1 Series race wins in 2021 and 2022 and several top 10 Godzone finishes. Her highest achievement in Godzone being third with Tiki Tour in 2023.
Chris Forne is a mate and training buddy of Tom and Eryn's and has had a huge amount of success over the years in adventure racing, with eight world champ titles to his name. Recently Chris beat Tom to win Queenstown’s popular Skin to Summit race series at the Remarkables and Coronet. The upcoming World Champs is the first time Tom and Chris have raced together in the same team!
Race starts 19 OctoberThe Tiki Tour team departs New Zealand on 14th October and expects to be back home, hopefully with the First Place Trophy on 30 October. You can follow the team during the race with live tracking on the World Champs website. This feature will be live after the race start.
